Geo Quest - Rising Kings

Last weekend was anything but ordinary (which you will see from this video diary)

My physical and mental endurance was tested on Australia’s most challenging adventure race

Imagine this, A non-stop 48-hour adventure race trekking, mountain biking, and kayaking around the rugged NSW North Coast - with no sleep, and hours of navigation in complete darkness.

You and your teammates stay together for the whole race – it isn’t a relay!

It was tough, IT WAS THE HARDEST THING I’VE EVER DONE and I went through all of the expected challenges of cramping up, exhaustion, finding our way in pitch black and overheating (leading to hallucinations and seeing a tiger) but we made it!!!

And you’re probably wondering why I do these sorts of things… well here's some of my thoughts on that.

I’m a firm believer that our minds are stronger than our bodies. And I don’t just believe that, I know that because I’ve put my mind to the test on more than one physical challenge in my lifetime.

As humans, we crave comfort.

We crave warmth, shelter, sleep, food and these are all-natural factors we need to survive and thrive.

So when we are deprived of these creature comforts, we get uncomfortable - and we switch to survival mode.

But in reflection, what point where we if any real threat of death or harm? NEVER!

We chose to be here.

We had a way out at any point, so there was never a real threat to our survival.

So why didn’t we just surrender to it and let the process run its course?

In the end, the time didn’t matter, so why did we worry so much about the deadline?

It's my view, we worry about time because we know eventually our time will come to an end.

So the real takeaway here is that it’s how we map and judge our lives and journeys along the way.

What a great adventure brothers

Thank you for pushing me and holding me accountable to finish

Much love all,

Till next time

P.S I highly recommend some training before competing in a 160km event!
